Fabio Grandi, Ph.D.

Associate Professor



Fabio Grandi was born in Ferrara, Italy, on December 31, 1964. He received his Laurea Degree in Electronics Engineering (with honours) from the University of Bologna, Italy, in 1988 and a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering and Computer Science in 1994.

Since 1989 he has worked at the C.S.I.TE. center (formerly C.I.O.C.) of the Italian National Research Council (C.N.R.) in Bologna, supported by a fellowship from the CNR, in the field of neural networks and temporal databases.

In 1993 and 1994 he was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Ferrara and at the University of Bologna (Cesena).

From July 1994 to October 1998 he had been a Research Associate at the Department of Electronics, Computer Science and Systems (D.E.I.S.) and Lecturer of Information Systems in the Faculty of Engineering of Bologna (Reggio Emilia).

Since 1998 he has worked as an Associate Professor (teaching Information Systems in the School of Engineering and Architecture). In 2012 he joined the new Department of Computer Science and Engineering (D.I.S.I.).

His scientific interests include temporal databases, schema versioning, storage and access structures, access cost models and information retrieval systems, knowledge representation, temporal and versioning aspects in the WWW and Semantic Web.
